Baseball Playoffs - Phillies - Dodgers - Cardinals - Rockies - Yankees - Red Sox - Angels - Twins - Who will win it all?

AMERICA's Pastime begins…

2009

Baseball Playoffs 2009

Baseball Playoffs are here, starting tomorrow, October 7th. Who do you think will win?  Who has been hot? Whose been slumping? Who will win the World Series

As much as I despise the New York Yankees, they have played the best baseball in the 2nd half and in the last month. But just because Steinbrenner buys a team, doesn't mean that they will always succeed. They have the most pressure, with the New yankees stadium being played in this year, and the highest payroll.... they have the pressure of winning it all. The Philadelphia Phillies have some pressure also. Not only to repeat, but to be the first National League team to repeat, winning the World Series back to back since the Cincinnati Reds did in 1975 and 1976.

Here are my picks for the first round winners....

St Louis Cardinals

AT   Philadelphia Phillies    AND    Boston Red Sox   AT   New York Yankees

Who will be in the World Series?  I would love to see the Red Sox play the Phillies, but this is what I think..

Philadelphia Phillies  AT New York Yankees

WINNER?

Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia

Phillies

Now..  yes, part of my heart is hoping for the Phillies.  But from a sports perspective, if the Phillies pitching gets back on track, what it did for a whole prior to the last 2 weeks of baseball, they can win it all. And I am hoping for that and some good hitting. There are so many things to at. What could hurt the Phillies the most is their closing issues. Phillies were second to the Yankees in the long ball, home runs.  The Phillies have great defense and what usually helps in the play offs is defense and pitching. Time will only tell. Who do you think wins it all and why?

My votes the Phillies.  My brother in law is the head groundskeeper for the PHillies!!!!  Phillies all the way....  My son and husband went to last years world series.  I missed out and had to watch it on TV, but can't wait for this year.. all the way

I am in mourning today.  Added to that, my husband is a die hard Red Sox fan.  I may have to move out of the house for the next 2 weeks..

Hi Jeff, good luck to the Phillies.  I remain neutral in the playoffs and support whichever team or teams my current clients support.

Kris and I are in mourning together.  Ahhhhh.......our Tigers.

Sorry, I've got to root for the Rockies now.  Got lots of family and memories in Colorado!

KIM...  we need to talk then, so I can meet your brother-in-law.  It's all about contacts, right?  ;o)  And that is so cool that your husband and son went to last years World Series.  I guess you are from the Philadelphia area?

KRIS... I know... I feel for you. I was thinking of you when I wrote this, but I didn't send this to you, because I didn't want to rub it in your face. I was hoping Detroit would have won to possibly give the Yankees a slight fight. The Twins are 0-7 against the Yankees this year.  But... the Twins have won 5 games in a row... Detroit had lost like 6 out of their last 10 games... and Twins won 7 out of their last 10.  That can help some. Next year?

GABE... lol   thanks, I appreciate that. Then I want you to wear red for the whole month of October then.  Maybe I will send you a Phillies hat.  ;o)

MARIANNE....   poor thing.  Root all you want, but I don't see the Phillies losing 3 in a row to the Rockies again as they did in 2007.  That was horrible.  Want to make a wager?  lol

LARRY....  I love football....  but it's the end of baseball season and my team is still in the thick of things.  Besides, my Eagles will beat your Packers.  ;o)

Booooh Ya - Phils can do it again, just gotta keep the pieces together!! I'd love to see Martinez win the game for them - or Lidge considering the crap he offered this year!

So, what you're telling me is you don't think there is a chance we will have an L.A. Freeway series...

I have to be honest... I hear you saying 'if the Phillies... blah blah blah'... fact is that you are a Phllies fan and therefore have to pull for them. HA.  I don't watch baseball so I'm just giving you a hard time. Go SOX!

STEVE... . I don't think we really see Martinez, unless they use Happ in relief off and on.  I like our first 3, of Lee, Hamels, and Blanton. I am looking forward to playing the Dodgers more than the Cardinals. As you stated, we keep it together, we will get to the World Series...

JOHN.... .  lol...  I was just talking to my neighbor tonight, I would rather play LA,even though you would be home for the first 2 games, because we would throw Lee and Hamels at ya.  Good luck.

KRYSTE.... . boo....  boo.  boo.  But such a pretty young lady, how could I hate you.  ;o)

SUZANNE... . Believe it or not, the Red Sox are my 2nd favorite team and it drives my neighbor crazy, because I wear my Red Sox hat often. I have been a Phillies fan since 1973 and a Red Sox fan since 1975.

JOHN.... . yes, because they are my team, but because I also believe in them.  ;o)
